Kitchen and Great Room Remodel in Danville, CA

Client Need

The client approached Gayler Design Build with a vision to transform their home by creating a great room that encompasses the kitchen, family room, and dining room. They also wanted to update their living room, located off the front entry. Their primary goal was to remove a large stone fireplace that separated the family room from the kitchen, opening up the space for a more cohesive and expansive living area. The clients sought a seamless, integrated design to enhance their home’s functionality and aesthetic appeal while increasing accessibility for aging-in-place.

Solution

The client desired a brighter, more inviting home due to limited natural light. After careful consideration, we developed a warm color palette and design style for long-lasting appeal. We also added a large skylight in the front entry, allowing natural light to flood throughout the space.

To avoid an all-white kitchen, we combined white perimeter cabinets with a walnut island. Embracing the client’s love for earth tones, we used a variety of materials: Taj Mahal Quartzite countertops in a satin finish and a soft sage porcelain tile backsplash. New engineered hardwood flooring was installed throughout, and a limestone fireplace surround was added to the formal living room, creating a cohesive and welcoming space.
