If you do a lot of entertaining, it’s only natural to want a full-service operation in your backyard. When this young couple approached Gayler Design Build with their entertainment needs, that’s exactly what they had in mind.

This Pleasanton family wanted an entertainment space fit for friends and family—a place to celebrate, host a party in the backyard, throw a BBQ, watch sporting events, or just enjoy the outdoors. And, it was important to enjoy their space year-round.

Challenge

The couple’s backyard was limited in space due to an existing retaining wall and terraced yard.

Solution

Gayler Design Build maximized their outdoor living space by designing a 400 square foot pavilion that was attached to the back of their home.

The custom pavilion features a whitewash open beam ceiling, a skylight, a modern ceiling fan and built-in heaters for cooler evenings.

Under the pavilion, we designed an outdoor kitchen with a bar that seats six and a comfortable outdoor living area. This unique space features a beautiful gas fireplace with a white stacked stone surround and stone mantel and was uniquely designed so that family and friends can enjoy the view of the fireplace or the TV. The floor was finished in stamped concrete.

The outdoor kitchen includes all the must-have amenities for entertaining, including a large BBQ, stainless steel refrigerator, and undermount sink. The countertops are Bianco Typhoon slabs in a satin finish. The dual-level bar top comfortably seats six and allows for both meal prep and eating to happen simultaneously.
